Heating and Cooling School Program Information

A heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) associate's degree is the most common degree offered by heating and cooling schools; many schools provide certificate programs. HVAC programs cover all types of heating, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration processes and allow students to work with advanced heating and cooling equipment and tools. With a certificate or associate's degree in HVAC, students can become heating and cooling technicians, mechanics and sales representatives.

Certificate in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning

An HVAC certificate program prepares students for entry-level HVAC careers or continued education through an associate's degree program or HVAC apprenticeship. Most certificate programs require one semester and allow students to work with different heating, cooling and ventilation systems. Students use HVAC tools and diagnostic processes to repair and maintain working systems. With a certificate in HVAC, students can work with heating and cooling contractors, retail companies and HVAC repair shops.

Educational Prerequisites

HVAC certificate programs have minimal academic prerequisites. Enrolling students need high school diplomas and must submit official high school transcripts. A GED also fulfills the admission requirements.
